The first quarter of 2021 is in the books, and we’ve already seen some intriguing new smartphone releases. But what else do we have to look forward to? Some phones, including iPhones and Galaxies, will undoubtedly be shown at some point, while others remain shrouded in mystery and uncertainty. We’ll do our best to provide you with an overview of what to expect in terms of gadget announcements.
With that in mind, here’s a rough outline of what we may expect in terms of key phone launches in 2021.

The continuous growth of 5G capability on both high-end and mid-range devices, as well as maybe the first phones with real under-screen selfie cameras, are some of the themes that will define 2021. Bezels and notches will shrink, but screen sizes will likely increase.

Samsung made a strong start to the year by announcing and releasing its flagship smartphone in January. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra are all part of the S21 series. In comparison to the previous year, Samsung has lowered the launch costs of the phones to $800 for the S21, $1,000 for the S21+, and $1,200 for the S21 Ultra. You can get better deals on them nowadays thanks to various promotions.
So, what do we have here? The S21 series, particularly the Ultra, is a strong competitor for the titles of “best screen” and “best camera” on smartphones. These phones include fast Snapdragon 888 CPUs and super-smooth 120 Hz refresh rates, making them feel like they’re from another planet.
With the OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus not only wants to give a speedy, premium device experience at a lower cost, but it also wants to improve its photography game. As a result of the Hasselblad collaboration and branding on the camera module.
The OnePlus 9 is the “real value” phone of the two, attempting to cut all the proper corners while providing a flagship experience. And we had a blast with the OnePlus 9 — it’s snappy, fast, fun, and dependable. With superior materials, a curved screen, and a genuine telephoto lens on the camera module, the OnePlus 9 Pro provides a more premium feel.
In April, Sony announced its two flagships. They have the same rectangular form as Sony’s phones, with 21:9 aspect ratios. The camera modules have an intriguing novel optical zoom technology, in which the telephoto lens has a physical moving element that allows it to switch between 70 mm and 105 mm (relative) focal lengths. Pricing and availability are yet unknown, as is customary for Sony, so stay tuned.
They do, however, come with top-of-the-line gear, including a Snapdragon 888 processor and 120 Hz displays. Sony’s camera division contributed super-fast autofocus, and Sony’s Bravia team assisted with the addition of X1 picture remastering and Bravia HDR for the displays.
While it’s unlikely that Huawei would re-establish its connection with Google and re-establish Google Mobile Services anytime soon, the Huawei P50 series is still set to launch this year, albeit with a short delay until June.
